Market Analytics
Overview
Analytics delivers territory-level market insights to help assess opportunity and make data-driven decisions.
Key Capabilities
- Click on Analytics in the left-hand navigation panel and choose Average Reimbursement
- Click + Add next to Geography to choose one or more predefined territories, regions, or states. You can mix and match different types of geographies. Click Confirm when finished
- Choose a Code SetCode Set. Once you've selected a code set, the system will calculate and display average reimbursement for every payer type for each of your selected geographies.
- Toggle between Providers and Sites
- View results By Year or By Quarter and choose the length of the period for each calculation
- Click Export to export your results to Excel or CSV
Use cases
- Plan market access: identify which territories offer the strongest reimbursement environment for your procedures before committing headcount or resources
- Provide reimbursement insights to providers: combine average reimbursement with a provider's payer mix to show them what the market could mean for their revenue
- Analyze health system competition: see how a competitive health system is being reimbursed, across the entire system or by their sites of care (outpatient, ASC, office)
- Support planning and negotiations: provide market access and commercial leadership with defensible, territory-specific reimbursement data to support product decisions and payer negotiations
Good to know
- Only 2024 and 2025 reimbursement data is currently available in this view
- Only CPT/HCPCS codes are supported — if a selected code set contains other code types, only the CPT/HCPCS codes will be reflected
Calculate total revenue opportunity by combining procedure volume with average sale price (ASP) so that you can
- Allocate resources appropriately: identify which territories deserve more rep coverage based on dollar opportunity
- Set rep quotas: set realistic targets grounded in actual market potential rather than arbitrary growth percentages or outdated assumptions
- Make informed investment decisions: build business cases for marketing spend and headcount additions using tangible revenue opportunities
Calculate Opportunity
- Click on Analytics in the left-hand navigation panel and choose Opportunity $ (ASP)
- Click + Add next to Geography to choose one or more predefined territories, regions, or states. You can mix and match different types of geographies. Click Confirm when finished
- Choose a Code SetCode Set. Once you've selected a code set, the system will calculate and display Opportunity (Volume × ASP) for every procedure code, as well as the total for all procedure codes, for each of your selected geographies.
- Toggle between Treating and Referring provider volumes
- View results By Year or By Quarter and choose the length of the period for each calculation
- Click Export to export your results to Excel or CSV
Good to Know
- Admin users configure Average Sale Price (ASP) for procedure codes within a code set. If an ASP is not configured for a code that is used in Analytics, the system will prompt user to configure the ASP. Click Configure ASP and add any missing values to run the analysis (note that only users with specific permissions are able to add ASP values).
Understand reimbursement dynamics by breaking down the distribution of procedures by payer type. See which payer types dominate each territory and adjust your approach to match the reimbursement landscape so that you can
- Target expansion strategy: identify high-commercial markets where premium pricing is viable versus Medicare-heavy markets that require different approaches. Or vice versa, find markets where Medicare-heavy is the optimal strategy.
- Plan reimbursement: assess Medicare coverage and commercial payer presence before product launches to avoid failures from misunderstood reimbursement dynamics
View Payer Mix
- Click on Analytics in the left-hand navigation panel and choose Payer Mix
- Click + Add next to Geography to choose one or more predefined territories, regions, or states. You can mix and match different types of geographies. Click Confirm when finished
- Choose a Code SetCode Set. Once you've selected a code set, the system will calculate and display procedure volumes for every payer type for each of your selected geographies
- Toggle between Treating and Referring provider volumes
- Choose between Claim, Patient, Provider, or Site claim volume
- View results By Year or By Quarter and choose the length of the period for each calculation
- Click Export to export your results to Excel or CSV
Good to Know:
- Supported Payer Types Include
- Medicare Advantage
- Medicare FFS (Fee-for-Service)
- Commercial
- Medicaid
- Tricare
- VA
- Other
- Individual payers are not supported (only payer types)
Understand where procedures are being performed - hospitals, ASCs, offices, and more - and focus your efforts on the right types of facilities so that you can
- Build site-of-service strategy: determine whether to focus sales efforts on hospital systems, ASCs, or physician practices based on where volume actually concentrates or where there’s an obvious gap to fill.
- Plan territory assignments: match rep expertise to facility mix by assigning hospital specialists to hospital-dominant territories and ASC specialists where ASC volume leads.
- Analyze market shifts: track movement of procedures from hospitals to ASCs over time to anticipate buyer persona changes and keep strategies current.
- Plan coverage: understand facility density and distribution to optimize rep territory size and quotas based on the actual care delivery landscape.
Find Volume by Site of Care:
- Click on Analytics in the left-hand navigation panel and choose Site of Care
- Click + Add next to Geography to choose one or more predefined territories, regions, or states. You can mix and match different types of geographies. Click Confirm when finished
- Choose a Code SetCode Set. Once you've selected a code set, the system will calculate and display procedure volumes at applicable sites of care for each of your selected geographies. Each site of care is shown in a separate column.
- Toggle between Treating and Referring provider volumes
- Choose between Claim, Patient, Provider, or Site claim volume
- View results By Year or By Quarter and choose the length of the period for each calculation
- Click Export to export your results to Excel or CSV
Good to Know
- Sites of care shown vary based on the chosen code set. For example, Pharmacy or Urgent Care may be hidden from view if you are looking for sites of care that perform laminectomies. Since each site of care is shown in a separate column, the number of columns in the result set may vary between code sets
Compare volume for multiple procedures (code sets) side-by-side across territories to identify which opportunities deserve prioritization and focus so that you can
- Prioritize targets: compare up to 10 procedures (or code sets) to determine which have the highest volume in each territory and guide rep focus accordingly
- Asses market variability: uncover geographic variations in procedure preferences to build region-specific sales strategies
- Run competitive analyses: compare your target procedures against adjacent or competing procedures to understand the current market and competitive positioning.
Calculate Total Volume:
- Click on Analytics in the left-hand navigation panel and choose Total Volume
- Click + Add next to Geography to choose one or more predefined territories, regions, or states. You can mix and match different types of geographies. Click Confirm when finished
- Choose Code SetsCode Set to compare. You can select up to ten different code set. Choose Treating volume, Referring volume, or both by clicking on the appropriate checkbox next to the code set name. Once you've selected a code set, the system will calculate and display procedure volumes for each code in every geography.
- Choose between Claim, Patient, Provider, or Site claim volume
- View results By Year or By Quarter and choose the length of the period for each calculation
- Click Export to export your results to Excel or CSV
Good to Know:
- You can compare up to ten code sets side-by-side
- Instead of toggling between Referring and Treating volumes, you can see both volumes for a particular code set in the same view by selecting them in the Code Sets drop-down
Track how procedure volume has changed over time to spot growing or declining opportunities so that you can
- Optimize territory planning: stop investing in shrinking markets and redirect resources to growing territories while managing down or exiting declining ones
- Evaluate rep performance: separate market trends from individual rep execution to fairly assess performance and avoid confusing declining markets with poor execution.
- Understand product lifecycle: identify where procedures are in their adoption curve (emerging, mature, declining) to adjust strategy as markets evolve
- Assess competitive intelligence: Gain visibility into whether volume declines signal new competition, substitute procedures, or clinical practice shifts rather than operating blind to market changes
