Encounters and Encounter-based Discovery enable sales representatives, managers, and marketers to precisely target providers and sites based on specific patient encounter patterns, significantly improving the efficiency of healthcare technology and medical device sales processes.

MedScout's Encounter Discovery solves this by allowing sales teams to search for providers based on comprehensive patient encounter patterns, combining both procedural and diagnosis codes to identify the most relevant prospects.
For example, a sales representative for an advanced neurological imaging solution can specifically target providers who perform MRI scans for patients with neurological conditions, rather than casting a wider net that might include providers who either perform MRIs or treat neurological conditions, but not necessarily both for the same patient encounters.
User-defined encounter criteria can be saved, shared across organizations, and applied to multiple searches.
Encounter-based Discovery enables you to identify prospects with unprecedented precision. By targeting providers who demonstrate specific practice patterns, you can focus your outreach on those most likely to benefit from your solution, leading to higher conversion rates and more efficient use of your time.
Unlike traditional methods that search for providers based on individual criteria, Encounter Discovery allows you to find providers based on combinations of criteria that occur within the same patient encounter. This means you can identify providers who treat specific conditions with specific procedures rather than merely finding providers who perform certain procedures or treat certain conditions independently.
You can create as many code sets as needed. To maintain system efficiency, code sets that haven't been used in 90 days are automatically archived but can be easily restored.
All code sets can be designated as private or shared across your organization. This enables teams to collaborate effectively and maintain consistency in their targeting approaches.
Code set processing times vary based on the complexity of your criteria and the data volume. While processing occurs asynchronously to avoid disrupting your work, most code sets are ready within minutes. You'll receive a notification when your code set is ready to use.
Encounter-based searches are regenerated when MedScout receives new data. There is no need to users to rerun them manually.
